Avid fans of the "Left 4 Dead" franchise have been clamoring for the release of the third installment. Rumors have been rife about the game with the latest information suggesting that "Left 4 Dead 3" is indeed in development.
Recently, there was a new reference to the unannounced third installment in the co-op zombie-killing series in a Valve employee's development tutorial. While the game is yet to be announced official, leaked images hint that Valve has been working on the upcoming installment under the radar.
Valve artist Tristan Reidford for Destinations Workshop Tools posted a screenshot on Valve fansite Valve Time. The screenshot shows a folder named "left4dead3."
Apparently, the image was quickly supplanted with a new still that only reveals Reidford's default folders. However, a collection of screenshots was reportedly taken prior to the said image being brought down.
Many speculations have surfaced because of the leaked image, suggesting that the third installment in the "Left 4 Dead" franchise is currently underway at Valve Software. While the game developer did not give any official statement about the upcoming game during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), it is strongly believed that "Left 4 Dead 3" will feature an advanced gameplay setting.
Apart from the setting of the game, there are rumors about new characters being added to the much-rumored game, a more comprehensive map selection, and six different campaigns. According to Express Gaming, "Left 4 Dead 3" will feature four new characters - one is female and three are male. The source reported that the female character is called Katherine, while the three male characters include comic book geek Keenan, a gangster called Irvin, and the famous Kenpo fighter Garrett Jr.
Developed by Valve South, "Left 4 Dead" is co-op zombie-killing series set during the post-apocalyptic pandemic. The first-person shooter video game pits four heroes called Survivors against many infected people.
For now, the release date for "Left 4 Dead 3" is yet to be revealed, but it is expected to come out sometime in 2017. Watch the footage below for further information.
