Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is slated to hit the stores in a few weeks, and rumors indicate that presales are doing well to the extent that the upcoming device will outsell the Galaxy Note 5. On the other hand, Apple is gearing up to announce the much-rumored iPhone 7 in early September.
Reviews around the iPhone 7 are mixed, especially since the smartphone will not have major updates and it may lack basic features like its headphone jack. However, there is excitement around the Galaxy Note 7 since the South Korean tech giant recently unveiled its unpacked event, according to Samsung official website. Fans should expect an interesting rivalry between Apple and Samsung in late 2016.
The iPhone 7 and Galaxy Note 7 will be two high-end flagship smartphones of 2016 because of their top specifications. Apple is said to continue its release of two devices - a slate smartphone and a phablet.
With regard to the display, the iPhone 7 will sport a 4.7-inch screen display while the iPhone 7 Plus will have a 5.5-inch display. The two devices will reportedly maintain the Retina HD display with 1334 by 750 and 1920 by 1080 pixel resolutions respectively.
Samsung, on the other hand, will release only one device in late 2016. The Galaxy Note 7 is rumored to feature a 5.7-inch Quad HD dual-edge curved display with 2560 by 1440 pixel resolution. The device becomes the first one in the Note lineup to come with a dual-edge display, according to iDigital Times.
The Note 7 is said to have the same pixel density as the Galaxy Note 5 - 518ppi. Furthermore, the Note 7 will feature a Gorilla Glass 5 casing, which is expected to withstand damage from a shoulder-height drop.
When it comes to the hardware, besides the TSMC produced A10 chip, the Cupertino-based tech giant will reportedly include 2GB of RAM in the iPhone 7 and 3GB of RAM in the iPhone 7 Plus. The company may as well increase internal storage, starting at 32GB for the base level.
It is speculated that the iPhone 7 Plus will ship with 256GB storage, as well as a 128GB option for both models. The iPhone 7 is rumored to sport a 1735mAh battery capacity, while the iPhone 7 Plus will ship with a 2810mAh battery capacity.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will ship with either Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset or Exynos 8890 based on the location. The device will have 4GB of RAM similar to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 5, although the Note 7 will ship with 64GB internal storage. It is unofficial that there may be a 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant available in China, which will be expanded up to 256GB via microSD.
Although the Note 7 will feature the largest ever battery on a Note device - 3500mAh - the capacity will be 100mAh smaller than the battery feature in the Galaxy S7 Edge. According to Samsung, the power reduction was to create space for the S-Pen.
