Apple is reportedly working on new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro laptops with various new features, which include Touch ID sensors and OLED mini screens above their keyboards.
According to Bloomberg, the new MacBook Pro laptops will become Apple's first overhaul line in about four years. The devices will have very efficient and powerful graphics processors. They will also be thinner and lighter than the MacBook Air and incorporate a touch screen strip for function keys as well as an OLED Mini Screen.
The MacBook pro laptops will come with USB-C ports that enable a user to charge a compatible accessory at a higher speed when compared to the current USB style technology. What is more, application icons are predicted to change their behavior based on the program one is using.
Apple may also offer the new devices in different colors including gold, gray and silver, CNET reported. These MacBook Pros are believed to have been in advanced testing by Apple since the beginning of this year. The devices, however, are not scheduled for release in the upcoming debut that is intended to showcase new versions of the iPhone on Sept. 7.
Apple will, as well, introduce a new version of its Mac operating system, the Sierra, in the near future. The new operating system will have new messaging apps, a deeper iCloud integration, and a photo-management feature. It will also provide an efficient file storage for Apple's laptops and desktops.
Apparently, the MacBook Pro overhaul is aimed at reviving notebook sales because consumers take longer to purchase or replace their iPads. It is reported that users upgrade their iPads in approximately every three years whereas they buy new iPhones in every 18 to 24 months.
Hence, this explains the drop in iPad sales, where Apple witnessed a decline of 23 percent translating to $23.2 billion. It also explains the decline in iPhone sales in the last financial year.
Despite Apple's shares tumbling to as low as $90.34 in May, the company is currently up by 3.4 percent to $108.81. The introduction of the MacBook pro laptops will, however, become significant in reversing two quarters of sliding sales that the company has suffered.
