Lee Min Ho is proving to be one of the most sought-after faces in the film industry. In addition to his recent Korean-Chinese "Bounty Hunters" film, the 29-year-old actor will make his small-screen comeback in SBS's upcoming fantasy-romance drama, "Legend of the Blue Sea," alongside actress Jun Ji-Hyun.
In a recent interview with Drama Fever, Lee uncovered major information about his comeback drama, his new role and much more. He confessed that he decided to choose "Legend of the Blue Sea" as his comeback project because the drama contains elements that are universally acknowledged.
"I think this will be a series that has an appropriate amount of fantasy," said Lee. "Since the drama contains elements that are universally acknowledged, I think that this project will give off a more familiar feel to the viewers."
Based on Yu Mong-In's "Euo Yadam" story collection, "Legend of the Blue Sea" revolves around a cold-blooded con artist, Heo Joon-Jae (Lee) and a mermaid, Sim Chung (Jun). It is said that the former will fall in love with the latter.
With "The Master's Sun" director Jin Hyeok at the helm, both Lee and Jun will leave for Palau Island later this month to commence the principal photography for the series. The upcoming drama is written by Park Ji-Eun, who brought the hits like 2015's "The Producers and 2013-2014's "My Love From The Star."
"The two of them are going to Palau and Spain for the overseas filming of SBS's new Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Legend of the Blue Sea'," a source revealed to Soompi. "Since the content of the drama involves exotic coasts and the title itself includes blue sea, they are leaving to film overseas."
Much to the delight of many, "Legend of the Blue Sea" just added two new characters to the cast: Lee Hee Joon and Moon So-Ri. Both stars will play vital roles in the drama.
The "Mirror of the Witch" star is set to play Min-Ho's Heo Joon-Jae half-brother, Jo Nam-Doo. He obediently stayed by his father's side after Heo Joon-Jae left home.
Moon, on the other hand, will portray Ahn Jin-Joo. Her role is said to be a rich wife of Daechi-dong, an upscale neighborhood of Gangnam district. They joined previously announced actress, Shin Hye Sun, who has been cast to play Cha Si-A.
It remains indistinct precisely what impact the three support characters will have in the bigger story of the upcoming drama, as very little details are known. SBS's "Legend of the Blue Sea" is scheduled to premiere sometime in November.
