Avid fans of the hit MBC drama "W" will be happy with the latest news. A special episode will be released that will feature some of the major scenes between Lee Jong Suk, Han Hyo Joo and other cast members.
Loyal viewers of the drama "W" were disappointed when MBC decided to cancel its normal broadcast schedule for the drama's episode 8. The said episode was originally scheduled to air on Thursday, Aug. 11. However, it was canceled to make way for the network's Rio Olympics broadcast.
It appears that MBC has made plans to create a special episode that contains critical scenes from the drama's first seven episodes, Soompi reported. The upcoming 100-minute episode will be released on Monday, Aug. 15 at 12:50 p.m. KST. An MBC source shared that the special episode was intended for some viewers who may have missed the earlier episodes of the drama.
The source stated that some parts of the 100-minute episode will include subtitles to explain plot lines and story changes. The said subtitle feature will also provide viewers the chance to gain a better understanding of the various character and story situations in the MBC series.
The drama tells the story of Lee's character Kang Chul, who is the protagonist in a famous webtoon created by Han's character's father. On the other hand, Han portrays On Yeon Joo, a doctor who mysteriously found herself inside her father's webtoon. The actress' character became one of the lead roles in the webtoon where she also fell in love with Lee's Kang.
Meanwhile, the MBC fantasy romance drama has been one of the popular series in South Korea since it first debuted in July. An analytics firm has even named it as the most talked about TV program during the early part of August, Korea Herald reported. GoodData Corporation made the announcement on Monday, Aug. 8 and revealed how "W" has landed on the top spot with 25,751 points.
GoodData's list measured the number of online hits posted for Korean shows and programs, as indicated in the same report. The analytics company has also included online traffic from social media sites, blogs, digital news, as well as online forums or communities. The MBC drama landed at the first spot, while the SBS drama "Doctors" nabbed the second place followed by the MBC variety program "Infinite Challenge."
"W" airs every Wednesday and Thursday on MBC.
