"Arrow" season 6 has just been confirmed by executive producers Wendy Mericle and Marc Guggenheim, but it seems that fans are not delighted over the fact that The CW series will continue beyond season 5.
While speaking with IGN, Guggenheim said that The CW series will only feature flashbacks until the end of season 5. In season 6, majority of the scenes will happen in the present or in the flash forwards.
"We still want to make that part of our storytelling, because we do like them. We like when those non-island flashbacks sort of illuminate what's going on in the present day. That'll always be a part of the show and a part of the show's storytelling structure. It just won't be telling a serialized story," he said.
Meanwhile, fans have weighed in on "Arrow" season 5 and said that some of the storylines from the previous seasons should no longer be explored in the upcoming episodes.
"I didn't understand why they sent him back to that island in season 4. They should've moved on from there. I also don't care that they wanna do flashbacks for multiple characters. It should be a story telling device only reserved for new heroes or characters. Lastly, it's dumb that CW didn't take their chance to make 'The Flash' the center point of the CW universe and use the Flashpoint storyline to reset the entire CW universe. It would've been nice to reset the 'Arrow' using Flashpoint as a stepping stone," one fan wrote.
A loyal "Arrow" viewer also urged the network to no longer renew the series for a sixth season. "As someone who was a huge fan of 'Arrow' in season 1 and 2, I hope this show doesn't get a season 6," the fan wrote.
A fan seconded the previous fan's statement by saying, "If the decline in quality keeps going as it has been, they should probably just stop the show altogether after season 5."
Other fans claimed that they enjoyed watching the series more during its earlier seasons.
"Arrow" season 5 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET.
