"Arrow" season 5 will open with Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) acting all professional with each other.
However, executive producer Wendy Mericle said that the once-onscreen couple will finally make a decision about their future in episode 5.
While speaking with TV Line, the exec said that Oliver and Felicity will stay as professional partners especially in the wake of the lead character looking for new members of Team Arrow.
"You will find out more right around episode 5," she said.
Amell also weighed in on rumors that Oliver and Felicity will eventually get back together. According to the actor, he is not very sure if a romantic reunion is possible, at least this season.
"We speak to each other as equals, as team members. It's pretty clear that Oliver loves Felicity, but I don't know if they're going to be together romantically," he said.
Meanwhile, Rickards added that Oliver and Felicity's professional relationship is the only kind of relationship they will have in the early episodes of the hit The CW series.
The actress added that Oliver and Felicity's communication will also become much stronger compared to the previous seasons.
Beyond their professional work, Oliver and Felicity will bottle up all of the emotions that they still have for each other.
The former will also continue to hold on to his guilt of not being truthful to the woman he was supposed to wed.
In other news, Oliver will continue to act as Star City's biggest hero. However, his run as the city mayor will not be as successful.
"What a garbage mayor he is. He's terrible. And he's terrible because there's no team," he said.
Additionally, "Arrow" season 5, episode 1 will see Katie Cassidy reprising her role as Laurel Lance. The actress was also recently upped as a series regular in "Arrow," "The Flash" and "Legends of Tomorrow."
"Arrow" season 5 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET.
