Athletes from the United States are rejoicing after earning 26 gold medals in this year's Summer Olympic Games held in Brazil's capital Rio de Janeiro.
Recent medals tally posted in the official NBC Olympics website put Team U.S. firmly in the lead with 69 medals followed by China with a total of 45 and Great Britain with 38.
The countries placed in second and third for the total number of Olympic medals are tied in second for the race towards gaining the most number of gold medals from the most popular sporting event.
According to SB Nation, most of the medals bagged by the Americans-33 to be exact-were from swimming events.
However, their most resounding victory the team was Simone Biles third gold medal in gymnastics.
CNN International reported how the 19-year-old all-around American gymnast was able to bag three out of five gold medals on the second day of the three-day finals in the gymnastics event in Rio 2016.
The outlet said that her performance on the vault scored her a 15.966 even though she was a bit disappointed that she was not able to do an amanar perfectly.
Even so, the judges think she makes the competition a lot less 'competitive' considering how she performs and just grabs every single gold medal in the gymnastics events.
"That's your Olympic champion on vault. Number three. She's making it look to easy right now. I think I'm actually upset about it. She's like, 'Eh, give me one more gold,'" said one of the Olympics commentators.
So far, Team U,S, already has 26 gold, 21 silver, and 22 bronze medals in their necks while the Chinese is not far behind with 15 gold, 13 silver, and 17 bronze medals as of latest tallies posted during the writing of this article.
