"Halo Wars 2" Beta gets feedbacks from testers, which suggests different changes in the video game before it gets released. The most significant criticism the development team heard was about issues with connectivity.
Some gamers earlier this year joined the multiplayer beta for the video game. Studio head of strategy games at 343 Industries Dan Ayoub wrote on the official website of Xbox that they are thankful for all the testers who participated.
He reminded everyone that this was just a technical preview of what they were doing in development, or a true development beta. This beta test made them test their backend and tuning, and it also let their game get tested out by players early enough to get some good feedback.
Ayoub said that the biggest criticism they heard from the test were the issues with connectivity, de-synchs and similar problems. With that feedback, they were able to address those problems in the final game for the players who will play with it in the future.
The studio head has also reported that they have made a significant number of changes and adjustments, including tuning, game mode pacing, UI improvements, stability, and flow improvements. These improvements and adjustments were all based on the feedback they got from the beta test. There were five main areas of focus that they have adjusted with general improvements, which are the controls, leader abilities, bases, resources and energy, and population.
The controls in the beta test had some criticism and based on it, the team is going to make a number of adjustments. There will be some new changes to the layout to make it faster and easier to engage the actions the players want to do. They are also checking out the multiple controller configurations.
Players found it unclear how to use the Leader Powers feature and the evolution trees were confusing, or it was not specific enough for them. The team is now working on ways to make the feature usage more straightforward, easier to use, and easy to understand.
The biggest feedback given by the testers was the bases on how the buildings were evolving, or the amount of damage they had sustained. The team is now working to change the appearance of individual structures within the base to show how it looks in its current state.
The cost for power collection was too high, according to the beta testers. They were forced to have Supply Depots and Reactors occupy a high number of build slots, which made it difficult for them. Changes will be made for the costs to scale with the stage of the game by the team.
The testers also wanted a higher unit population count, and the team will deliver it for them. They clarified that the unit cap for the Beta test was purposely lower than the ones that they will launch with, but they will raise it to the final game.
In other "Halo Wars 2" related news, the development team for the game went to Germany recently for Gamescom. According to the official website of Halo Waypoint, they brought with them new content from the game to show off to the attendees. So far, the testers were impressed with the new gameplay of this game.
