Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has no plans selling Cesc Fabrigas despite starting Oscar over the veteran midfielder Oscar in their season opener against West Ham United.
In a recent press conference, Conte provided his explanation why he decided to put Fabrigas on the bench in their first match of the season. He also shut down the rumors about a potential transfer move involving Cesc, insisting he won't allow the Spaniard to walk away.
Conte on potential Fabrigas transfer via Real GM.
"When a coach takes a decision there is always a reason but I prefer to keep it for me," Conte said. "But I don't see any problem and I'm very happy to have these players.
Cesc is Chelsea's player and I'm happy with his attitude and behaviour during the training sessions. When you are a great team like Chelsea it can happen. I have to take decisions before the game to choose a starting XI.
It can happen that Fabregas is not in the team, but it can happen for all the players. It's important to see always the right attitude, the right behaviour, because we must fight this season and it's important to stay together in every situation."
Conte stressed that Fabrigas appearance on the starting line-up would be on their match-up. Nevertheless, he lauds the veteran's attitude throughout the process, trusting the system he imposed.
Fabrigas has been mentioned as one of several players who could switch teams before the transfer window closed at the end of August. Barcelona, Manchester City and Real Madrid are teams rumored as potential suitors for the Spaniard.
