2NE1 comeback is reportedly delayed as Sandara Park bagged a lead role in a movie.
Dara has been building her career as an actress and starred in web series "We Broke Up" opposite labelmate Kang Seungyoon. It is a big opportunity for Dara to star in her first movie role to really establish her brand as an actress.
Her big screen debut is "One Step," an upcoming Korean film to be directed by Juhn Jai-Hong. It is a remake of the 2013 American movie "Begin Again". The studio made the announcement that Dara will be playing the role of the young woman, Si-Hyun, who is left with no memories after being involved in a car accident. The mishap causes her to see sounds in color, which is regularly disorientating, constraining Si-Hyun to protect her ears.
Moreover, previous reports claimed that Dara will serve as judge in a new reality TV show in the Philippines. Since it's a TV show, it will most likely run for months. This means the trio is not preparing for any possible comeback in months.
However, there are other reasons cited that delay 2NE1's comeback. The main reason for the delay is the imminent debut of YG Entertainment new flagship girl group - BLACKPINK. Dubbed as the second coming of 2NE1, the new female group has four members that reminded fans of 2NE1. YG is increasing the anticipation of waiting fans by releasing teasers for weeks until its debut. Moreover, it seems that all resources are given to the new group to ensure its hype and success.
