2NE1 comeback is reportedly delayed in order to make way for Minzy's solo debut.
Reports claimed that Minzy is prepping for her solo debut under her new label Music Works. There is no definite date as to when Minzy will be back on stage. The former 2NE1 member recently wrapped up her fan meeting on Aug. 13.
Minzy treated 40 of her fans with few performances and cake to thank them for their unwavering support. A comeback after two and a half years is taking place. Minzy is rumored to make her solo debut before the end of 2016, however, details about her comeback are not yet known. So far, the singer has been revamping her image from that as a member of a girl band to a solo artist.
However, there are other reasons cited that delay 2NE1's comeback. The main reason for the delay is the imminent debut of YG Entertainment new flagship girl group - BLACKPINK. Dubbed as the second coming of 2NE1, the new female group has four members that reminded fans of 2NE1. YG is increasing the anticipation of waiting fans by releasing teasers for weeks until its debut. Moreover, it seems that all resources are given to the new group to ensure its hype and success.
Meanwhile, YG Entertainment seems to be focusing on its new flagship girl group - BLACKPINK. Teddy Park will be the main producer of the new girl group. It was thought that G-Dragon will be the producer of the girls, but it seems that Teddy has more songs fit for a girl group. Teddy has been in charge of 2NE1's albums. Thus, we can expect songs similar to 2NE1.
