Chapter 499 of "Fairy Tail" may feature Invel controlling Gray to destroy END. The idea came from a leaked scene in the upcoming chapter of the said manga.
Although chapter 498 is still not out for Manga, some spoilers were already hinted for the next episode. Several speculations appeared in different discussion forums and blog posts. Despite the spoilers consistently including a fight scene between Invel, Gray and Juvia, it also hinted a possibility that Gray will be Invel's instrument to destroy END.
In a thread at Reddit, user Power_of_Pie posted a translation from a source which tackles the conversation among the three above-mentioned characters, with Invel telling Gray, "The one who will defeat END is you, not your majesty."
The statement created a lot of speculations from other users, with one fan stating that Invel had already foretold his fate by mentioning Gray will be destroying END. However, this was negated by another user who said the only thing the Ice Mage confirmed is that he will let Gray live. The user added this may be one of Invel's plans so that he can use the Fairy Tail guild member to terminate END.
Meanwhile, a separate blog post by Yonkou Productions dropped hints on how episode 498 would run. Fans have expressed their delight in the comments section over Juvia's playing an active role during Gray and Invel's encounter. One mentioned the character can finally prove she has been training and has become more powerful over the course of time.
With the clues being dropped, other fans believe Gray and Juvia will be teaming up to defeat Invel. Some believe the duo would triumph while others have predicted a bad fate for Juvia, saying the character will not be able to survive the current arc.
Other fans hope Gray will not be fighting Invel alone as he is generally not fast in terms of speed and not really powerful in terms of physical strength. Others defended the evidence saying Gray is reserved and is not showing off his powers quickly unlike Natsu.
