"Empire" season 3 will soon reveal who among Rhonda or Anika died in the finale episode for season 2.
In that scene, Rhonda and Anika were having a physical fight when one of them seemingly fell from the top of the building. Andre arrived at the scene, but was a few seconds too late.
While speaking with Extra, "Empire" cast member Taraji P. Henson confirmed that one of the female characters will not survive the fall. The actress also shared how the cast members of the hit FOX series reacted when they saw the script detailing the character's death.
"They send us the script and then everybody's calling each other like, 'What? What? What?' You have to wait till Sept. 21," she said.
Meanwhile, "Empire" showrunner Ilene Chaiken previously told Variety that all of the cliffhangers from season 2 will be explored in season 3 in a heart-stopping manner.
For instance, Chaiken confirmed that Henson's character Cookie Lyon will try to leave Lucious (Terrence Howard) after the latter decided to tie the knot with Anika.
"Cookie is going to try in season 3 to leave Lucious. She's going to try to move on. Whether or not he lets her!" she said.
"We learned that the stories that work best and that we love telling the most are about the family, and that always will be our focus. No matter what's going on at Empire, it's always about the family," she continued.
In other news, Chaiken also talked about some of the guest stars in season 3.
While talking about Mariah Carey, Chaiken said, "She was great. She was fabulous. She's beautiful to look at. She brings a sense of what Mariah brings to the music industry. She brought it to our show. I'm grateful she spent time with little old us."
Chaiken also gushed over Taye Diggs and said that the artist is a very funny man and she didn't expect him to be so. The showrunner added that Diggs' character will closely be working with Cookie.
"Empire" season 3 will premiere on FOX on Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. ET.
