The Washington Wizards seem to be a forgotten team in the offseason. They were set to make a big splash with the anticipated Kevin Durant signing, but instead they only re-signed Bradley Beal and acquired Ian Mahinmi.
A lot of pundits are watching John Wall and how the new situation will sit with him. He has already pointed out about how other less-heralded point guards like Reggie Jackson is now receiving the same amount of money as he is, as recalled in ESPN.
While he clarified that he was "happy for all those guys," how would he react when his own backcourt partner, Bradley Beal gets paid much more than he is? Especially after his admission to CSN Mid Atlantic that he and Beal have somewhat of a rift.
"I think a lot of times we have a tendency to dislike each other on the court. ... We got to be able to put that to the side. If you miss somebody on one play or don't have something go right ... as long as you come to each other and talk. If I starting arguing with somebody I'm cool. I'm just playing basketball," Wall said
"Now that you have your money you got to go out there and improve your game. I want you to be an All-Star just as much as I'm an All-Star. If we were playing well as a tandem like the other two superstars that play together as a backcourt, play as a tandem, one night it's going to be his night, one night it's going to be mine, some nights it might be both of us. Those are nights it's going to be tough to beat us." Beal said "it's tough because they're both alphas."
It doesn't sound like the "perfect fit" that new head coach Scott Brooks envisioned, but the two guards have seen
This is the type of dilemma that only winning can solve. These are also the statements that can easily snowball into trade rumors. Wall has already been predicted to burst out and there are already rumors that teams like the Orlando Magic or the Milwaukee Bucks would be good trade partners. Both teams would like to improve their point guard position and also have young pieces to trade.
There were already rumblings of John Wall possibly requesting a trade and the Bucks were tackled in a previous report. The Orlando Magic is also a team that needs a prime point guard as Elfrid Payton may have stalled.
