Microsoft and 343 Industries will take a new course on its "Halo 5" franchise, after they revealed that the "Halo 5: Forge," the multiplayer level creation experience, will reach Windows 10 on Sept. 8.
Previously, Microsoft has announced that "Halo 5's" map making tool called Forge will grace Windows 10 as Forge-Halo 5: Guardians Edition. Furthermore, according to PC Gamer, Microsoft has communicated that they do not have plans to launch "Halo 5: Guardians" on Windows 10, while they are focused on building "Halo Wars 2" for Windows 10 and Xbox One.
Now, the level creation tool that lets players build their own worlds and create new game experiences for "Halo 5: Guardians," "Halo 5: Forge," will be finally coming to PC, giving players the ability to select from a vast list of pre-made effects and assets like walls, ramps and natural structures in order to create their own multiplayer maps.
"Halo 5: Forge brings the entire Forge level-creation experience from Halo 5: Guardians to Windows 10, with support for mouse and keyboard for highly refined object placement and manipulation, higher-resolution displays (including 4k) for stunning graphic fidelity, the ability to host and play custom matches for up to 16 players, and a new content browser that spans platforms," Microsoft said on the Xbox Wire.
"Creators will be able to download levels from the Forge community created on both Windows 10 PC and Xbox One, which they can then customize, or create their own from scratch. Halo 5: Forge opens the door to new possibilities in Halo 5: Guardians and beyond."
The free updates also bring more consistency of gameplay between both platforms overall, which allows for cross-platform play of content made using Forge. Through the expanded features, new weapons, new pas and new customization features to the Xbox One game will be added.
Forge is the level editor tool for Halo 5: Guardians first introduced to the series through "Halo 3" in 2007. Players can select from a vast list of pre-made effects and assets like walls, ramps and natural structures in order to create their own multiplayer maps.
