HBO's "Game of Thrones" Season 7 has a lot of surprises and revelations in store for its viewers. It is said that Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) will visit the ruins of the Dragonpit in King's Landing.
"Game of Thrones" Season 6 episode 10, which aired on June 26, saw Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion fly over the Dothraki, Dornishmen, Ironborn, Reachmen and the Unsullied fleet of House Targaryen. The Mother of Dragons stands on the deck of the flagship, along with Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Varys (Conleth Hill), looking ahead to the great war to come.
Now, an unnamed reliable source told Watchers on the Wall that fans can look forward to seeing Daenerys at the Dragonpit, a massive dome in King's Landing, in Season 7. The House Targaryen used the Dragonpit to stable their dragons.
This only confirms Daenerys will finally be arriving in King's Landing in "Game of Thrones" Season 7. Soon after the news broke out, fans were keen to speculate that the Mother of Dragons visit to the ruins of the Dragonpit is only possible if she has ousted Queen Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) and has finally taken residence at King's Landing.
In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Clarke teased that Daenerys would definitely take on Queen Cersei in the next season. Avid viewers may recall that the latter assumed the throne under the name of Cersei of the House Lannister, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, after Tommen's (Dean-Charles Chapman) suicide in the wake of the destruction of the Great Sept of Baelor.
"Basically, I've got ships, I've got manpower, I've got dragons that breathe fire," Clarke calculated. "And I apparently cannot be killed. I don't even have an attractive man who wants to take his shirt off anywhere near me now, so there are no distractions."
While nothing is set in stone yet, the Roman ruins of Italica, Santiponce, Seville, might reportedly be the place where the Dragonpit scene will be filmed. It is said that HBO was at first intrigued in the Ex-Monastery of San Isidoro del Campo, but found that it was too modern-looking for their purposes.
