Actor Kim Rae Won admitted that he would like to star again in a romantic comedy in the near future. The 35-year-old actor recently starred in SBS's "Doctors" opposite actress Park Shin Hye.
Kim just stole the heart of everyone portraying the renowned neurosurgeon, Hong Ji-Hong, on SBS's "Doctors." The 20-episode medical drama was his first melodrama in five years after 2011's "A Thousand Days' Promise."
"It had been a while since I'd done a romantic comedy, but it was good," Soompi quoted Kim as saying during a news conference for the SBS series on Aug. 25. "Maybe not right away, but if there's another good project like this one, I'd like to try romantic comedy again."
The actor added that he always liked romantic comedies since it is the genre he is most confident in. He then admitted that he had no time to fully prepare for the role, as he shifted to the drama right after completing the filming of a local movie.
If he had more time, Kim said that he would have visited an operating room to watch how doctors work. He added, "Acting has become more interesting to me. I have a lot of things I want to do, and I just want to be able to do them well."
Kim made his acting debut in the 1997 MBC drama "Me" and since then played romantic roles in such hit dramas and films like 2003's "Rooftop Room Cat," 2004's "Love Story in Harvard" and 2004's "My Little Bride." He starred next in 2014's legal thriller drama, "Punch."
When asked about his plans for marriage, Kim stressed that he do not have any plan on tying the wedding knot in the near future. The actor explained that he still have big dreams for the second leg of his acting career, revealing that he already filmed two movies.
Kim will star next as Seo Jin-Hong in the upcoming mystery thriller film, "RV: Resurrected Victims," directed by Kwak Kyung-Taek. The film, which also stars Kim Hae Sook, Sung Dong-Il, Jeon Hye-Jin and Jang Young-Nam, is based on Park Ha-Ik's 2012 novel of the same name.
He will also play detective Song Yoo-Gun in the upcoming film, "The Prison," along with Han Suk-Kyu, Jeong Woong-In, and Choi Seong-Won, Han Cinema reported. The film is slated to hit movie theaters later this year.
