Men and women in their second adolescence and dealing with marriage are the themes of the upcoming KBS romance drama “On the Way to the Airport.” Director Kim Cheol-kyu, known for “My Beautiful Bride,” promised that the aviation-background Hallyu would offer viewers the best emotion that melodrama permits.
The female lead of the new series is Kim Haneul, an Air Asia flight attendant. The two male leads are Lee Sang-yoon of “Twenty Again” fame and Shin Sung-rok of “King’s Face,” reported Dramabeans. Joining them in supporting roles are Choi Yeo-jin and Jang Hee-jin.
Playing the character of university architecture lecturer Seo Do-Woo is Lee Sang-yoon. The actor, who is checking the model replica of a traditional Korean hanok house in one still and lecturing in another photo, has been typecast as a teacher in Hallyus lately.
Airline captain Park Jin-seok is portrayed by Shin Sung-rok who is married to the stewardess character of Kim Hanuel, known for her performance in “A Gentlemen’s Dignity.” The two male leads, rivals in “Liar Game,” are again fighting for one woman – the character played by Kim Hanuel – in “On the Way to the Airport” which would premiere on Sept. 21 over KBS. It airs ever Wednesday and Thursday, another possible contender to the “Descendants of the Sun” popularity throne still vacant since mid-April. It would air on the time slot of “Uncontrollably Fond.”
Ahead of her appearance in the new drama, Kim Hanuel – last seen by fans on Korean TV four years ago – is featured in the September issue of 1st Look Magazine, reported Asiastarz. Part of her absence from the limelight is because the actress got married to a businessman in March.
