Huawei has announced the release of two new midrange smartphones, Nova and Nova Plus just ahead of the IFA 2016.
The Chinese smartphone entered the smartphone network and brags of having a number of mobile phones in the market. On Sept. 1, the company had a press invite, an event which hinted at a new handset line. The new Huawei handset series has two devices: the Nova and Nova Plus, which have some differences and similarities in terms of hardware specs.
Nova and Nova Plus models which are aimed at the mid-range markets, are surprisingly premium. Both Nova and Nova Plus feature an aluminum body with different antenna lines and 2.5D glass on the front. The smaller Nova copy's the Huawei's Nexus 6P design while 'Nova Plus' takes inputs from the company's 'Mate' series of smartphones, Gizmodo reported.
Both the Nova and Nova Plus will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 625 Octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM. This which is about 40 percent faster than the Snapdragon 615 chipset. It boasts a 32 GB of internal storage with the option to extend the storage capacity with a micro SD card.
Also, there is an USB-Type C port which comes alongside a fingerprint scanner on the back of both phones, they will be able to interpret finger-based gestures to perform various actions.
According to Android Pit, the main difference between the two models is the screen size. The Nova Plus touts of a bigger 5.5-inch Full HD screen while the Nova has a 5-inch display. Both smartphones look similar from the front, but users will find design changes when the phones are turned over.
Nova Plus has a 340 mAh battery which is bigger than the 3,020 mAh that powers Nova. Huawei however, claims both smartphones can give up to two days of use on a single charge.
Another main difference of the two smartphones is the camera. Nova Plus comes with a 16-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization. Nova features a 12-megapixel f/2.2 camera with phase-detection auto-focus. Both have a 8-megapixel front camera for selfies and high definition video calls. The front camera features Huawei's trademark beautification modes.
The new smartphones will be running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow straight out of the box.
Although Huawei has now launched the Nova and Nova Plus, clients will have to wait until October for the devices to hit the shelves.
In Europe the smartphones are priced at 399Euros (approximately $444.94) and 429Euros (approximately $478.38).
