Players of the popular Clash of Clans mobile game are disappointed to learn that the highly anticipated ClashCon 2016 will not be pushing through as Supercell wants to focus on improving the title.
Niantic has been widely successful with their Pokémon GO augmented reality mobile app for Android and iOS users. It is no secret that some believe the success might have damaged the fanbase of Clash of Clans as it loses users every day because of the time they take to catch Pokémon instead.
Some are even comparing the two games side by side even though they are technically entirely different games in terms of genre and gameplay. As the number of players for Pokémon GO increase, the more players also leave Clash of Clans.
Still, there is a solid fanbase ready to serve but they ended up being disappointed. Supercell announced on Twitter that they have to say no to ClashCon 2016 as they want their developers to improve Clash of Clans further with more fixes and game modes, iTechPost has learned.
ClashCon 2016 was supposed to be a large convention for fans to interact with each other and participate in related activities for the game. Instead, Supercell wants to give the time to their developers to work on improving the game even more possibly to compete with Pokémon GO in the long run.
Supercell believes that the most beneficial way for everyone to enjoy Clash of Clans more is to cancel ClashCon 2016 for now, Touch Arcade reported. In addition, only several people manage to attend the said event last year even though the game was a global hit in the past.
There were some reports saying that Clash of Clans will have a massive September update that would include new game modes, features, improvements and fixes. The said changes in the game are reportedly tailored to help the game take on Pokémon GO although no AR features are planned at the moment.
Clash of Clans players will just have to wait for the massive September update to enjoy more of the game. ClashCon 2016's cancellation is disappointing but Supercell points out that it would be the best next step for the game.
