Reeling teams Peru (1-5-1, 4 points) and Ecuador (4-2-1, 13 points) are scheduled to meet one another in a 2018 FIFA World Cup CONMEBOL qualifying tournament Matchday 8 encounter on Tuesday, Sep. 6 at the Estadio Nacional in the Peruvian capital city of Lima.

Peru was stunned by lowly team Bolivia, 0-2, in the previous matchday on the road at the at the Estadio Hernando Siles in La Paz to drop their fifth game in the ongoing CONMEBOL qualifiers, via Soccerway.

La Tricolor initially led the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers after it opened the tourney with four consecutive victories over Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay, and Venezuela before settling for a 2-2 draw with Paraguay in Matchday 5.
It was all downhill since then for Ecuador as they lost two straight. The team is tied on points with Uruguay and Colombia, but they have a lesser goal difference which relegated them to the fourth spot at the moment.
