"Desperate Housewives" star Felicity Huffman opened up in an interview on Feb. 23, Monday, about how to battle depression. She candidly opened up and talked about how difficult battling depression was for her having suffered a major depression during her 20s.
The "Transamerica" actress disclosed that her three very, very dark years of despair and depression has totally changed her life. It was an ordeal, a crucible from age 28 to 31 for her and it changed her for the better.
"I went through a very, very dark three years, and that deep despair and depression changed me," Huffman told the Tribune. "It was kind of the crucible, from 28 to 31. That dark time changed me, I think, for the better," according to News Health.
For Huffman it was the kind of depression that made her wish she was dead, but through the love of her family and by the use of therapy, she came out of it.
Huffmann, another star of the movie "Cake" together with Jennifer Aniston, also admitted that she has suffered to bulimia and anorexia during her 20s too. She went through a lot of ups and downs of mental ailment, she has one constant support that has always been around her, William H. Macy, her other half.
It took them 15 years of dating before Macy could convince Huffman to tie the knot, and it is partly due to that she needed to mend herself first, Fashion and Lifestyle reported.
The TV star admitted that she felt scared of marriage that she thought it is better to step in front of a bus. She also disclosed the Macy had asked her to marry him several times over their 15 years of relationship. Soon she thought it is a smart move to finally say yes before she loses him for good.
Moreover, Huffman thought too that she might lose her identity as an actress once she gets married.
