The historical Korean drama "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" that stars Park Bo Gum has recently achieved an important milestone. The KBS series topped the list of influential TV shows, according to a TV popularity index report.
Park's new drama "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds," also known as "Love in the Moonlight," landed at the top spot of a Content Power Index (CPI) chart. The data, developed by Nielsen Korea and entertainment company CJ E&M, was unveiled on Tuesday, Sept. 6, according to a report posted on Korea Portal. The said chart tracks the popularity of TV shows using data from various channels such as social media activity and page view count of online news.
The KBS series garnered a CPI level of 278.7 points during its debut week. "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" aired its first two episodes on Aug. 22 and Aug. 23. The drama has since attracted the attention of avid viewers given its compelling storyline.
Park portrays the role of the Crown Prince Lee Young while Kim Yoo Jung plays the character Hong Ra On. Kim's Hong is a young girl pretending to be a boy who eventually became the crown prince's eunuch. The drama's story revolves around the two characters' challenges during the Joseon dynasty.
Apart from the KBS drama, the romantic medical drama "Doctors" also made it to the top three of the CPI chart. The said SBS series nabbed the second place, while the new drama "Jealousy Incarnate" landed at the third spot.
Meanwhile, "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" has been enjoying strong viewership ratings since it first aired in August. In an interview with Korean TV show "Entertainment Weekly" that aired on Saturday, Sept. 3, Park and Kim both made a rating promise to fans, Soompi reported.
When asked if the two Korean stars can join the show's "Guerilla Date" segment when the drama's ratings exceed 30 percent, both Park and Kim agreed to the special fan event. The said segment usually features the guest appearance of celebrities who would meet the fans on the street or a public location for some fun and games. One of the suggested locations for Park and Kim's potential "Guerilla Date" appearance is said to be an amusement park.
At this point, it is still unsure if the suggested fan event will indeed happen. On the other hand, viewers can see more of Park and Kim in upcoming episodes of "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" that airs every Monday and Tuesday on KBS.
