The Korean drama "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" has been enjoying its top spot in the rating race against other Monday-Tuesday dramas. However, a latest report has revealed the KBS series' slight dip in viewership share while competitor "Scarlet Heart Ryeo" saw a rise in ratings.
The viewership ratings for the KBS historical series "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" that features Park Bo Gum has been steadily increasing since it aired its first episode on Aug. 22. Its second-week episodes that were released on Aug. 29 and Aug. 30 saw a double-digit increase that surpassed the 15 percent mark. However, the drama's rating for episode 6 that was released on Tuesday, Sept. 6, posted a slight decrease as compared to episode 5, according to Soompi.
The said episode garnered a nationwide viewership share of 18.8 percent. The rating is 0.5 percent lower than episode 5. Despite the slight drop in ratings, the KBS drama still retained its top spot against competitor dramas in the same Monday-Tuesday timeslot. The MBC series "Monster" landed at second place with 10.3 percent. On the other hand, Lee Joon Gi's "Scarlet Heart Ryeo" nabbed the third spot with 6 percent.
Although Lee's historical series has yet to break the 10 percent mark, its recent fifth episode fared better than episode 4, as indicated in the same report. The said episode that aired on Tuesday, Sept. 6, posted a 0.3 percent increase as compared to the drama's fourth episode that was released on Monday, Sept. 5.
Meanwhile, some viewers slammed Lee's co-star IU for her poor performance in the SBS drama. IU portrays the female lead Hae Soo while Lee plays the fourth prince So. However, SBS' executive Kim Young Sub responded to the criticisms and complimented IU for her growth as an actress, allkpop reported.
He also made mention of some viewers who may have a negative impression on K-pop idols who became actors. IU started her career in the Korean entertainment industry as a singer before branching out to try her hand at becoming an actress. Kim applauded the musician's acting abilities and even asked the viewers to look forward to IU's acting in upcoming episodes.
"Scarlet Heart Ryeo," as well as "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" and "Monster" airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m. KST.
