The rumors proved correct that Apple will include a Jet Black color option with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus release date and going by the stunning and gorgeous implementation, the finish will likely end up as the bestselling model of the new iPhones. But buyers may want to skip the sexiest of the new iOS 10 flagship phones.
Here are the reasons why:
Fingerprint magnet
As can be seen from the Apple press release, the Jet Black iPhone 7 and 7 Plus is as glossy as a grand piano unlike the other color variants that came with matte finish, the grayish Simple Black including. And any gadgets with glossy casing can only mean one thing - they easily attract fingerprints and more so in the case of an iPhone that for many users will always be on hand.
Easily scratched
According to Apple Insider, the iPhone maker has posted in advanced an advisory that due to its extra shiny finish the Jet Black new iPhone can scratched easier compared to other models and the damage will be easily noticeable.
"(The Jet Black iPhone 7) surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use," the same report quoted Apple as saying. The tech recommends the use of case cover in order to make the device scratch-proof, which adds up to the cost of owning the device.
Hard to find
It's very likely that the Jet Black new iPhone get the same attention what the Rose Gold iPhone 6S and 6S Plus have attracted last year, meaning that the most-coveted finish of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be difficult to find.
Breaking the bank
And lastly, owning the shining black new iPhone will not come. Apple said that the color option will only be made available in 128GB and 256GB storage configurations, effectively leaving out buyers who plan to get the basic 32GB model.
Apple's decision will translate to cash setback that starts at $769 for the 128GB variant and up to $969 for the 256GB edition.
Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be available for preorder Friday this week or September 9 and commercial availability will start on the 16th for U.S. buyers. For the rest of the world, the next iPhone release date will commence in the immediate weeks to follow.
