Champions League qualifiers Sevilla opened their campaign this term with a high-scoring 6-4 victory over RCD Espanyol at home.

However, they were held to a 0-0 draw by tough squad Villarreal CF on the road at the Estadio El Madrigal on Aug. 28 before the international break to prevent them from scoring back-to-back wins to start the season, ESPN reported.

New head coach Jorge Sampaoli, who replaced current Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery, is still finding the right chemistry with his players and Los Rojiblancos is expected to get better as they play more games together.

With forward Kevin Gameiro now with Atletico Madrid, Coach Sampaoli is relying on 22-year-old Argentine striker Luciano Vietto to do the scoring chores for the Sevillistas.

Meanwhile, dark horse team Las Palmas had surprised the fans as they won their first two games this term in stunning fashion.

Head coach Quique Setien's side romped Valencia in a high-scoring 4-2 victory during their season-opener before demolishing Granada, 5-1, in similar fashion during the previous matchweek at their home field of Estadio Gran Canaria, as per SkySports.

Moroccan winger Nabil El Zhar scored a brace to lead Los Amarillos while Kevin-Prince Boateng, Momo, and Sergio Araujo netted one goal each to complete the team's five-goal haul in the contest.

Boateng, who was only acquired by Las Palmas last month, started and scored a goal in two consecutive matches so far for Coach Setien.

The two clubs are evenly matched on paper, but with the growing confidence of Las Palmas, Sevilla will have a hard time pressuring them even at their home ground. The reigning Europa League champions are still projected to prevail in a close match, though.
