When "The Walking Dead" Season 6 finale wrapped up, most fans were aware that one of Rick Grimes' group members will not be able to come back for "The Walking Dead" Season 7. Director/exec-producer, Greg Nicotero, who is known for keeping the show's biggest secrets, shocked many when he gave an interview that seems to answer the last season's cliffhanger.
The Season 6 finale ended with a huge cliffhanger, and since then fans have shown different reactions about the AMC TV series. They are upset because it ended with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) about to use his trusty wired bat Lucille to send one of Grimes' trusted allies to death. However, it seems that Nicotero was not careful enough this time to keep the secrets of "The Walking Dead" Season 7.
"I would have still supported doing it the way that we did it, because of the fact that the story doesn't end there," Nicotero told Entertainment Weekly. "If we would have shown the deaths, then they wouldn't have felt our characters in season 7 the way they need to."
Nicotero's statement easily caught the fans' attention and the media alike, who think that the director just spilled the beans about the major cliffhanger of the last season's finale. When Nicotero mentioned "deaths," people began speculating that the director accidentally admitted that not only one person will die when "The Walking Dead" Season 7 premieres.
The director explained that he was aware about the fans' reactions, but still believes that he did the best to make the next season more appealing to the viewers. Nicotero even asked Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes on the show, about his opinion on the Season finale's ending and they both share the same views.
Since the last season ended in April, viewers just could not get enough spoilers to know who is Negan's victim. The new trailer of "The Walking Dead" Season 7 released this week, however, seemed to tell who among Grimes' members will be killed. Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Glenn Rhee are both missing in the 30-second teaser trailer that could suggest that they are the victims of Negan, according to Express.co.uk.
"The Walking Dead" new season returns on Oct. 23 on AMC. Check out the show's Comic-Con trailer:
