"NBA 2K17" has only about two weeks to go until its much-awaited release, and new changes on the MyCareer mode has recently been unveiled. 2K sports has kept bringing Hollywood star power to feature on the game and on Wednesday, they announce that actor Michael B. Jordan will be appearing in the game mode which centers on friendship.
According to CBS Sports, 2K released a trailer for "MyCAREER" mode and went ahead to explain how it will be a bit different from Spike Lee's story in "NBA 2K16."
In the trailer, Jordan, 29, plays the role of Justice Young which is similar to the player's trait, he is an up-and-coming NBA athlete. Like the well-known tandem of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, Justice and the player will rise through the stages together. The pair will be named "Orange Juice," which shows the chemistry between the two casts and their effect on the court as a team, IGN reported.
Apart from Jordan, the MyCareer mode will also feature other celebrities such as "Broad City" actor Hannibal Buress as a barber named Ice and "Veep" star, Matt Walsh as the player's college coach named Hemsley Adson. The storyline for MyCareer directed by Aaron Covington, the co-writer of "Creed."
In a press statement, Jordan said he was humbled at the chance to assist influence a franchise that he have been a passionate of since its first release. Apart from lending his voice in the video game, the actor also did motion-capture work for his character.
Ben Bishop, a senior producer noted that their goal for this year was to further highlight the game of basketball while putting more effort to the "dynamic and interactive story element." He further added that the player has complete control on Justice's actions, and not just telling him what to do or not. This is the first time that MyCareer included a dual player control.
For the first time in the game's history, gamers will be able to play the opening of MyCareer mode for free starting Sept. 9.
"NBA 2K17" will be out on Sept. 20 for Windows PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, but pre-orders will be received on Sept. 17. A legend edition will also be available that will feature Kobe Bryant as the cover athlete.
