Are we to see again another case of Grant Hill or Sam Bowie in Chicago Bull's priced player Derrick Rose?
According to ESPN, the third injury came without warning, not unlike the first two, where everybody witnessed it happen. Last Monday, the Bulls routed Bucks, which is not surprising. But what was even surprising was Derrick Rose's performance.
Rose played a very sub-par game, he missed 13 shots and only dissed 8 assists, for some it might be a not so bad performance, but if you're the former MVP and superstar of the team it is.
Not unlike his first two injuries, every saw witnessed it. Those injuries happened on a game. But for the third one, everybody was clueless.
The Chicago Bulls organization announced that Rose will be under the knife to fix a medial meniscus tear in his right knee. It was such a surprise for everyone considering that he went to attend the team's practice a day after the Bucks game. But during the practice, he is already complaining about his right knee. After the practice, he was brought in for further examinations and after MRI, it was determined that he had a tear in his right knee.
NBA's 2011 MVP also suffered the same tear in his right knee, 10 days after playing for the 2013-2014 season that made him miss the entire season. During his MVP season, Rose also suffered a knee injury, an ACL in his left knee.
Brothers On Sports also reported that probably Rose will miss the rest of the regular season, which is about 10 more games. The National Basketball Association had just resumed their regular games after celebrating its annual All-Star games which was held in New York.
With his current injury, it is very disturbing to think if he can still bounce back or worst return to playing. To make it worst, he might come back but can he still be the same player as he was when he won the league's season MVP? There are similar promising and young players before him that has undergone the same way, Grant Hill for instance, who was dubbed as the next Michael Jordan was plagued by injuries from head to toe during his prime, he managed to come back but he was not the same player dubbed as a replacement for the greatest of all time. Sam Bowie, the number 1 pick overall in the 84th NBA annual draft, was also plagued by multiple injuries. Bowie was a promising rookie and player but did not reach his full potential due to his injuries. Like Rose, Bowie also suffered multiple injuries on both legs (Fractured left and right Tibia).
