It seems like the upcoming season premiere of "South Park" will be taking advantage of the hot issues for the upcoming presidential elections between Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump. Its showrunners confirmed they will be using the tug-of-war between the two president wannabes, before it even fades away.
Despite this, both Parker and Stone are still concerned of how their viewers would take their satirical portrayal. It can be recalled the show first took off with Trump during the previous season in September 2015, when he was still one of those "marginal" wannabes who later on became Clinton's top rival, The Daily Beast reported.
Producer Trey Parker admitted they took advantage of the noise Trump was making during that time, so they decided to give it a shot in an episode. The chapter ended with Mr. Garrison, Trump's Canadian character, being violently raped.
Showrunner Matt Stone added what they did with the business tycoon's character was hardcore, with Parker saying they do not know now what to do next with him. But with the upcoming elections, "South Park" creators seem to have an idea in mind on what they can do next. They also clarified they did not want to give Trump the honor, so they used Mr. Garrison as his counterpart to comment on the on-going campaign for elections.
Aside from Trump, there had been news suggesting the animated series will take on the "Pokemon Go" hysteria which swept the world away with its craze, The National reported. The publication added it is one of the safest bets others could predict as of the moment.
Meanwhile, the duo said seeing the flashback video which aired in the recently concluded Comic-Con make them think they are looking at their old haircuts on the internet. The trailer featured how far "South Park" had come throughout the years.
With all these information being fed, some may conclude that "South Park" is not yet taking a break from a limelight even after 20 years of airing. Season 20 of "South Park" will start airing on Sept. 14.
