The recent Apple press release revealed the specs of the newest iPhone 7 and the Apple Watch 2, however, with no additional information regarding the anticipated iPad Mini 5 witnessed on the launch. Now, reports are suggesting that Apple's efforts will rather focused on building up its new tablet family to be named iPad Pro.
With the silence, iPad enthusiasts believed that the tech giant cancelled the much anticipated coming of iPad Mini 5, based on speculations that iPad Air 3 and iPad Mini 5 will either be dropped, undergo a complete overhaul, or be merged to form a smaller iPad series in the future.
Moreover, Christian Today highlighted that the upcoming iteration of the iPad Pro series might inevitably quash the arrival of iPad Mini 5, although announcements for the iPad Mini could come as minor upgrades since Apple will focus on the Pro lineup now.
Currently dubbed as iPad Pro Mini, the tablet is speculated to be equipped with essentially basic specifications. In addition, the iPad Pro Mini is widely pegged to be sporting a 9.7-inch display, which will also share its resolution with the 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 variant. iPad Pro Mini is deemed at the moment to be part of the iPad Pro 2 roster.
According to NeuroGadget, the upcoming iPad, regardless of its name, will sport a smaller battery and two cameras: an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 1.2 MP secondary front one. It will also come in a 7000 aluminum chassis that will make it thinner and lighter and durable at the same time.
The handset is speculated to be powered by an A9 processor from Apple and will run iOS 10 straight out of the box. Naturally, Apple's latest gen chipset and OS will offer improved graphics and overall performance.
Rumor has it that the upcoming iPad will come in several native storage variants: 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. Other rumors about the device state that it will be waterproof, an absent headphone jack and 3D touch button, which were same anticipated features for the iPhone 7 line.
As of now, with the lack of official information and concrete updates coming from Apple, iPad fans are advised to take the reports with a pinch of salt.
