Recently, Microsoft is now focused on building a new product category of aspirational devices that will delight Windows enthusiasts with its hybrid tablets. And after the company started to build its next generation of "Surface" hybrids, US Microsoft Store has now started selling refurbished Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book devices at a discounted price.
According to Enstarz, the discounts are significant, with the price of the top-of-the-line Surface Book, which includes a 512GB of storage, a Core i7 chip, and 16GB of RAM, taking massive $405 price cut. The base model with a Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM, and 128GB storage costs $1,499 at retail while the refurbished unit costs $1,274.
More so, a base model of the Surface Pro 4 with Core m3 processor, 4GB RAM, and 128GB storage costs $899 at retail, but the refurbished unit can be purchased for $764. All refurbished Surface devices include a one-year hardware warranty.
As part of Microsoft's promotion, the tech giant still assured to the buying public that the devices are good as new. Furthermore, in a statement released by Microsoft, the company emphasized how each Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book being sold at a discount was evaluated.
"Each refurbished Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book undergo a rigorous refurbishing process that includes hardware and cosmetic quality inspections, software updating, and diagnostic testing. And all refurbished Surface devices are backed by a manufacturer's limited one-year hardware warranty."
Analyzing similar moves in the past, the act of selling current and existing devices with price cuts in them is a sign that something new is coming to replace those devices. And with Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 models being the next Microsoft flagship devices, their upcoming releases could be hinted to be arriving soon, Vine Report reported.
As to what device that would be, reports point to the possibility of the Surface Book 2 being the machine that would be unveiled soon; however, just like several other new laptop computers and computer hybrids, the Surface Book 2 is reportedly waiting for the latest Intel Kaby Lake processor, which is a new chipset fit for gaming experience with increased power and performance in video streaming as it supports a 4K resolution video display.
4K Ultra HD display is one of the leading display technologies of today, which Microsoft plans to incorporate into the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, giving it more graphical prowess than its competitors.
