Rumors have it that Samsung will soon provide a refreshed or 2016 version of the super-slim phablet Galaxy A8 that will maintain its sprawling 5.7-inch display. Now the latest scoop from gadget leaker @OnLeaks suggest that release date of the device is drawing near, thanks to freshly shared images and handset specification.
In a tweet dated September 11, @OnLeaks teased an upgraded Galaxy A8 that "looks like a larger GS7," the Galaxy S7:

But according to SamMobile, the device dimensions provided in the leak paint the Galaxy S8 as the more affordable alternative to the recalled Samsung Galaxy Note 7. "This handset is even going to be wider and taller than the Galaxy Note 7," the report said, pointing to the supposedly 156.5 x 77.5 x 7.3mm A8 2016 measurements that came with the recent @OnLeaks Twitter post.
CNET said that the A8 2106 dimensions seem to indicate that the device will again impress with its ultra-slim profile that will give the Galaxy S7 a tough competition. Yet unlike its flagship siblings - the GS7, the S7 Edge and the Note 7 - the Galaxy A8 (2016) will unbox without then now signature curved or double-edge display.
However, the A8 2016 front panel is surely of the Super AMOLED kind with rendering in 1080p resolution, CNET added on its report.
As for the new A8 specifications known so far, SamMobile said that recently discovered Bluetooth and FCC certifications indicate that the mid-range phone will rock an Exynos 7420 processing chip with top speed of 2.1GHz. RAM support is generous at 3GB while the on-board memory is 32GB
While the device is sure to include memory expansion as the Galaxy A-series is known for, it's unclear though if the new A8 will support microSD cards with 256GB capacity. The feature is found on both the Galaxy S7 series and the Note 7.
The latest leaked specs also pointed to a highly capable camera set up for the Galaxy A8 (2016) with the rear shooter likely equipped with 16-megapixel sensor and the front set at 5MP. Part of the deal too is fingerprint sensor, embedded on the front home button.
SamMobile noted on it report that the predecessor debuted July 2015, so it is a safe bet that Samsung will push the Galaxy A8 (2016) release date likely in the next few weeks. The latest Android Marshmallow will run the show but surely the A8 2016 is able to chew in Nougat soon. Pricing remains unknown at the time of writing.
