"The Vampire Diaries" will soon see a reunion between Nina Dobrev and her estranged boyfriend Ian Somerhalder.
A few years ago, Dobrev and Somerhalder were always excited to work with each other because they were still dating. However, the couple ended their relationship in 2013. Since then, Somerhalder has moved on to dating and then marrying his wife Nikki Reed. Dobrev, on the other hand, dated Austin Stowell, but their relationship didn't last very long.
Prior to their breakup, Dobrev spoke with MTV News to gush over Somerhalder who she said that doesn't really want to date.
"I think it could definitely get sticky if you dated your co-star. To be completely honest, dating an actor is very complicated. There's a lot of vanity involved. And they're in their head, and they're kind of crazy. And you're always surrounded by beautiful people, I would prefer not to date an actor," she said at that time.
Meanwhile, Dobrev was also very proud of her character Elena Gilbert from the hit The CW series so no one thought that she would ditch the role of participate in other projects.
"I think that Elena has more awareness of her friends and family, and everyone around her, and looking out for everyone's best interests. But Bella reflects that unconditionally in love, the blinded love that girls really do experience sometimes," she said.
In other news, Dobrev will return to "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 sometime towards the end of the series. Even though the actress still hasn't confirmed her return, fans and executive producer Julie Plec all believe that it's already a go. After all, Dobrev's voice was already heard in the finale episode for season 7.
Additionally, Elena's estranged boyfriend Damon Salvatore is in great danger. After being trapped inside the Armory vault, Damon and his friend Enzo (Michael Malarkey) both turned to the dark side. Elena's return could mean Damon and Enzo will be saved before it's too late.
"The Vampire Diarie" season 8 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET.
