Valve has finally removed all of Digital Homicide games in Steam after they have been subpoenaed for the personal information of 100 users who left negative comments about the developer.
Digital Homicide's games were being criticized for their quality and the developer seemed to have had enough of the negative feedback. There was even one YouTube video thrashing one of DH's games titled "The Slaughtering Grounds."
Jim Sterling, one of YouTube's many video game critics, slaughtered the game in his own review. This put Digital Homicide in a bad position saying that the flagging sales was his fault.
James Romine from Digital Homicide is seeking to discover the real identities of 100 users for a lawsuit claiming $18 million in personal injury against all of the negative comments left for the developers' games on Steam, Polygon has learned. Romine was granted the subpoena which was sent to Valve who now removed all of their games on their Steam store.
Valve said that they are now halting any business with Digital Homicide because it was "being hostile to Steam customers." It is now known yet whether Valve will actually be complying with the subpoena or if they have the required data to do so.
Twitter user @RobotBrush first spotted that all of the Digital Homicide games were removed from Steam, TechRaptor reported. Customers who already purchased the said games can still play it normally on their Steam client.
Unfortunately, interested customers will not be able to purchase the game anymore from Steam. There could be some torrents hidden in some sites or players who would like to share.
Digital Homicide's hostility to Jim Sterling led to an escalated argument among Steam users, the developers and other critics. The developers seemed to have taken the criticism too hard and they could not handle the feedback anymore.
Valve has also removed any Greenlight titles of Digital Homicide on Steam. Time will tell whether the lawsuit will actually push through or if it will just be thrashed like the rest of their games as nobody seems to be on their side of the arguments.
