Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime is expected to be launched today, Monday, Sept. 19 in Gurgaon, India. This follows the media invites sent by Samsung for the launch of its new J series handset. Recently, the company launched J5 Prime in the country. Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy J5 Prime will go for Rs. 18, 790 and Rs. 14,790 respectively. While the Galaxy J7 Prime is officially available from Monday, the Galaxy J5 Prime will go on sale from September-end.
According BGR India, the invite did not reveal much about the device. "Get Ready for the Prime Time," the invite reads adding, "Join us as we unveil the next in J-Series, now more proficient, power-packed and protected than ever." Samsung did not reveal the device name though it is speculated that the J-series smartphone will be Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime.
Samsung is boasting of features like S Power and S Secure for both the Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime and Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime. S Power is a reserve battery technology for when the battery is running low while S Secure allows users to lock/hide apps and more, Gadgets reported. The company has also revealed a Vodafone bundled data offer for both Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy J5 Prime customers, wherein they pay for 1GB of data and receive 9GB of data free over three months.
In addition, the smartphone comes packed with S Bike mode feature and in order to activate this feature, NFC tag (included in the smartphone's box) needs to be attached with the bike that comes with the phone. Before riding the bike or driving a car, a user needs to tap the phone to the NFC tag in order to activate the S Bike mode. Once the feature is enabled, callers will hear a message that the user is riding the bike and it will prompt them to leave messages
The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime which is the upgraded version of the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016), features a fingerprint scanner integrated within the home button and will have a full metal body and a 5.5-inch screen with Gorilla Glass 4 protection in addition. The handset will support full HD resolution of 1080×1920 pixels.
Other speculated differences include the presence of a full-HD display instead of an HD display, 3 GB of RAM instead of 2GB, more native storage of 32 GB instead of 16 GB and also support micro SD card of up to 256 GB. The Galaxy J7 will be powered by a 1.6 GHz Octa-core processor with Exynos 7870 chipset and Mali-T830MP2 graphics.
The device has a higher resolution front camera of 8-megapixel instead of 5-megapixel and 13-megapixel rear camera. The other features of the Galaxy J7 Prime almost completely match the Galaxy J7 (2016). The dual-SIM (Micro-SIM) Galaxy J7 Prime will be loaded with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
The latest Samsung J-Series smartphone offers 4G VoLTE, WiFi, GPS/A-GPS, Micro-USB support (with OTG), Bluetooth v4.1 and 3.5mm audio jack in terms of connectivity options. The Galaxy J7 Prime will ship with Li-Ion 3,300 mAh battery and will be available in black and gold color variants.
The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime to be released will retail at around $280 in India and is expected also to be released in Asia and other countries in the near future.
