The Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks have emerged as potential destinations for Chris Bosh if he demands a trade from the Miami Heat.
Bosh is attempting to stage a comeback in the NBA after missing the end of the previous two seasons due to blood clotting issues. Bosh and his camp has been keeping up the pressure on the Heat to clear him to play, and there is a possibility if both parties agreed on a maintenance program for the 10-time All-Star.
While many expect the Heat to clear Bosh to play this season, things could go south if the Heat do not clear Bosh once again, which could trigger the two-time NBA champ to demand a trade, according to Isaac Harris of Sports Illustrated's Fansided.
Bosh, at 32, and if completely healthy, is still one of the better all-around players in the league, posting career averages of 19.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. If it comes down to the Heat trading Bosh to a team where he could be medically cleared, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks emerge as possible landing spots for the 13-year NBA veteran.
Harris explored the possibility of the Mavs calling the Heat for Bosh in what could be a homecoming for the star forward. Bosh would give the Mavs an All-Star caliber player who can be a tremendous boost for Dallas' hopes of contending for a title. However, trading for Bosh would require plenty from the Mavs, which may include the likes of Deron Williams, Andrew Bogut and Wesley Matthews in any potential package.
The Cavs are also rumored to be a destination for Bosh if he part ways with the Heat this season. While speculations of Bosh joining LeBron James are probably based on their friendship, the Cavs could strongly consider trading for Bosh to keep their back-to-back title hopes alive.
Bosh would seamlessly fit in with the Cavs on both ends of the floor. His outside shooting would help the Cavs space the floor, while his length should help improve the team's interior defense.
Bosh is also a good friend of James, which should bar any chemistry issues of the former joining the defending champs. The duo won their first NBA championship together as part of the Heat's "Big Three," and has the chance to replicate such feat by forming their own trio with Kyrie Irving.
Trading for Bosh won't come up cheap as he is due to make $23 million this season, but dealing Kevin Love, who has struggled to fit with the Cavs, should do the trick.
Love has been limited offensively ever since joining the Cavs, becoming a spot-up shooter most of the times. Playing for the Heat could turn him back into an offensive threat, and with Hassan Whiteside anchoring the defense for the Heat, Love's one-way game would be a better fit in Miami.
It is unclear whether Bosh would demand a trade from the Heat, especially if they could come up with an agreement for him to play this season. But if there is no mutual interest from both parties, the Cavs and Mavs are intriguing options Bosh should consider.
