Fans of “Descendants of the Sun” actors Song Joong-ki and Song Hye Kyo were disappointed because the rumored marriage proposal by the birthday boy on Monday, Sept. 19, never happened. Unfortunately for the fans, they fell prey to entertainment and gaming websites which headlined the alleged secret romantic relationship, wedding plans and marriage proposal for traffic even if the reports were baseless and pure fiction.
There could be a second wave of disappointment if season 2 of “Descendants of the Sun” would push through. It’s because the two actors of season 1 would likely not be part of season 2. Even director Lee Eung Bok and writer Kim Eun Sook are not joining the second season.
Strait Times, which published an article on the success of Korean dramas, pointed out that one secret is not making sequels. It noted a planned season 2 for “Descendants of the Sun” by comparing it to giving fans “a beautifully packaged gift, only to find out that it does not contain what they want inside.”
The article noted scriptwriter Kim Eun Hee hinted of the possibility of a sequel because of the tantalizing “open-ended finale” of “Descendants of the Sun.” Episode 16 brought all major characters to a wedding in Canada when the last scene had a power outage and announcement of a major earthquake which hinted of more action ahead for the show’s characters.
Ironically, the same accusation of click baiting with false headlines to attract traffic could also apply to a Chatt Sports Net article on Wednesday that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo could possibly take legal action against some publications for fabricated stories about the two Hallyu stars.
The article only stated the two could file a lawsuit, but nowhere does it confirm that the actors have plans to do so.
