OnePunch Man - As the action at martial arts tournament reaches its boiling point, the situation outside the arena is getting out of hand with the monsters taking over in their battle against the Heroes' Association.
Chapter 66 Recap: The Strong
The chapter opens with another monster coming up from the ground. Fighting Bull-Frog, a monster with disaster level tiger, shows his intent to consume every human in his sight. Out comes A-Rank hero Biting Snake Fist Sneck to confront the monster.
However, other than the monster before him, the hero is also facing an identity crisis after realizing that there are actually strong individuals like Class-A heroes, Saitama and Suiryuu (the guy who recently dismantled him in their tournament) who don't need any protection from him. It's a realization that has him questioning the existence of the hero association.
Meanwhile, the monsters continue to bob out from almost anywhere, wrecking havoc in different cities, beating down S-Class heroes (Genos, Metal Knight and Metal Bat) and even causing commotion at Amai Sweet Mask's concert.
It was a complete chaos and apparently all of these were carefully planned by the monsters association. From the depths of hell, a new villain was introduced. He's at the top of the monsters association food-chain, Oroichi, the Monster King.
Review and Reaction:
-Yuusuke Murata is apparently planting the seeds for a Civil War arc in the future. If you are following One's webcomic, the Civil War arc that feature the battle between the Heroes' Association and the newly established Hero Hunter is now in its infancy stage and is expected to blow up when the latest chapters get released.
Sneck's question about his role as a hero and the existence of the Heroes' association itself only tells that doubts is beginning to shake the association from its core.
-Calling Suiryuu mysterious is an understatement. Ever since his debut on Murata's OPM chapter 60, Suiryuu radiates this aura that makes you keep asking these question over and over again: Who really is this guy? Why is he strong? Is he as powerful as Saitama?
Then, there's a Accel character from One's webcomic. He sports the same hairstyle as Suiryuu and believed to be strong enough to be recruited right into the S-Class of Heroes Association. Unfortunately, he has an agenda of his own as one of the main players in the Hero Hunters faction.
All I can say is if there's one candidate other than Saitama to be Blast, Suiryuu would be that person. Aside from above average fighting power, Suiryuu told Sneck during their battle that he hasn't been training for a long time, and yet he easily blew away his first two opponents.
It was 18 years ago Blast last appeared, encouraging Tatsumaki to use his power to defend herself the next time she faces danger. Coincidentally, Suiryuu also believed that only the 'strong' deserves to live in this world. A similarity in principle that would surely trigger more debates about his identity.
The 66th chapter of Murata's OPM will be included in this weekend's edition of Shone Jump Weekly.
