Rumors about Bill Goldberg's possible WWE comeback at Clash of Champions have exploded over the weekend, building more excitement for the first WWE Raw pay-per-view event since the brand split.
Goldberg, who last wrestled in WWE ring in 2004, has been in talks with the promotions top brass regarding a potential return to the squared circle after a 12-year absence. He has already made it clear the animosity that went between him and WWE is water under the bridge and he proved that so by agreeing to be a playable character in WWE 2K17.
The rumors of Goldberg making a surprised appearance at Clash of Champions started to gain stream after announcing during an interview with the Submission Podcast that he will be in Indianapolis the night of the PPV event.
However, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer (H/T Wrestling News Source) squashed the rumors by breaking out the news this weekend on Goldberg cancelling podcast interview with former WCW and RAW general manager Eric Bischoff. In short, he will no longer fly to Indianapolis Sunday.
Despite squashing Goldberg's rumored appearance at this weekend's WWE PPV event, there's certain level of optimism that Vince McMahon will eventually bring in the former World Heavyweight Champion at some point this year to spice things up for Wrestlemania 33.
As mentioned, Goldberg last wrestled 12 years ago against Brock Lesnar in one of marquee matches at Wrestlemania 20.
Triple H going at it again?
-Meanwhile, speculations are running high about the Game making his presence felt once again in the main event of Clash of Champions featuring Kevin Owens and his former protégé Seth Rollins.
It was four weeks ago when Triple H intervened in the Fatal 4-Way elimination match for the WWE Universal Championship vacated by Finn Balor. The Cerebral Assassin came out of nowhere to pedigree Reigns and then shocked everybody when he turned on Rollins, allowing Owens to pin the Architect for the win.
Rollins got another shot at the Universal Title, but he should realize that at Clash of Champions he's not only facing the reigning champ in Kevin Owen. He's also anticipating another ring interference by the Game.
