NVIDIA is expected to launch the GTX 1050 2GB and the GTX 1050 Ti 4GB model which is aimed at taking on the AMD Radeon RX 470 series instead of the cheaper RX 460 GPU.
Earlier leaks suggested that the GP107 Pascal GPU will be launched in late September but supply issues within NVIDIA reportedly pushed the GTX 1050 release date to October. Unlike the GTX 1060 models, there seems to be a clear distinction between the two variants in terms of the specs and features.
NVIDIA GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti Specs
The GTX 1050 Ti from NVIDIA is expected to be the more powerful one with 4GB RAM compared to the GTX 1050 2GB model that was mistaken to be the GTX 1060, HotHardware has learned. It is now confirmed whether the two will have the same specs such as the 640 CUDA cores ad the 1354MHz base clock.
NVIDIA launched the GTX 1060 3GB model with decent specs but the 2GB model soon followed with a little difference in power. The same could be done with the GTX 1050 variants considering that the other model has a different name, the GTX 1050 Ti.
Gamers who are still on the GTX 750 and GTX 750 Ti card will finally be able to replace them with the GTX 1050 or the GTX 1050 Ti, WCCFTech reported. The release of the new Pascal cards is also a little late considering that the Maxwell cards were already available since 2014 as the GTX 950 cards did not gain that much traction.
NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti and GTX 1050 2GB Price
Since the cards are expected to take on the AMD Radeon RX 470 Polaris cards, the price range would somewhere be between $149 and $180. Knowing NVIDIA, it would be most likely that the company's GTX 1050 cards will cost more than the RX 470 itself due to the added performance.
NVIDIA has not announced the GTX 1050 or the GTX 1050 Ti but they are expected to reveal the two cards in the following weeks leading up to the end of October. OEM partners have not revealed their takes on the GP107 Pascal card yet either.
