Loyal followers of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte would surely declare war on Taiwanese animators who poked fun at the former Davao mayor as a murderer clown. The video they made has gone viral with almost 65,000 hits.

Although the 1-minute, 30-second video is in Chinese, there are English subtitles which state that Duterte, when he was mayor, ordered liquidation squads to kill criminals and opponents in gangland-style assaults which left about 1,000 people dead, reported Inquirer. When he became president in July, the anti-drug campaign he led nationwide led to the death of over 3,000 suspected drug users and dealers.

It also cited his sharp tongue that caused him to curse Pope Francis and used profanity on the U.S. and the U.N. which questioned him about the extrajudicial killings and human rights violations. At the same time, the video pointed out that Duterte is softening his stand toward China even if the Philippines has a dispute with Beijing over disputed islands in South China Sea.

However, the video said despite the president’s tough talk, his stick is little because of the country’s financial weakness. “This moron thinks his allies are his enemies, and that he can trust countries like China and Russia. And now he wants their weapons. Sucking up to China will totally make them share the South China Sea,” the video said.

The Taiwanese animators, who apparently have a beef with China, said Duterte is a Kim Jong Un wannabe, referring to the North Korean dictator.

The comments section of the YouTube posting looks like social media postings in Facebook where pro- and anti-Duterte Filipinos debate and fight over their political beliefs.

Shami the Misunderstood pussy cat called the president an idiot, while Yani Diaz insisted she is not a paid hack and people support Duterte because they love him.

Peanutspread probably represents what many Filipinos tired of Duterte’s brash manners and the bickerings from pro- and anti-Duterte groups feel, wrote, “The truth hurts. So accurate! God help the Philippines.”
