In April, rumors had surfaced that Huawei is working on a 7-inch tablet. It was pegged to arrive as Nexus 7 2016 tablet. Fresh reports suggest that a Google-Huawei 7-inch is likely to launch on Oct. 4 with the new Andromeda OS onboard.
Google and Huawei are rumored to have collaborated on a 7-inch tablet. The search engine is also speculated to be working on a hybrid of two operating systems namely, Android and Chrome. This new OS is codenamed as Andromeda. Rumors indicate that the upcoming Google-Huawei 7-inch tablet will come preloaded with the new Andromeda OS, 9to5 Google reported.
Specifications of the Upcoming 7-inch Tablet
Previous rumors have indicated that the 7-inch tablet that is currently under the wraps will be powered by Snapdragon 820 and 4 GB of RAM. It is also expected to feature 13-megapixel camera.
End of Nexus Branding
Speculations are rife that Google has killed Nexus brand as it has not released any new Nexus device this year. After releasing Nexus 9 tablet in 2014, it has not released a Nexus branded slate. Also, the search engine giant has not released an upgraded edition of Nexus Player after releasing its last model in 2014.
Google won't be launching Nexus smartphones this year. Its new smartphones that will launch on Oct. 4 are branded as Pixel and Pixel XL. The Nexus branding involves Google's partnership with other OEM in releasing various kinds of products like digital media player, smartphones and tablets. However, these products carry the names of their respective manufacturers.
In the previous year, Google had released a 2-in-1 device with Pixel C moniker. The Pixel branding involves Google's collaboration with other OEMs, but these products are to be sold in the market as products manufactured by Google.
In the same way, Google has partnered with HTC in assembling the upcoming Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. These Pixel phones will be also advertised as products built by Google.
Pixel Branding for Andromeda Powered Tablet
It is likely the 7-inch tablet will carry Pixel branding. Since the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones are slated to get launched on Oct. 4, it is speculated that the Andromeda powered 7-inch tablet would also get unveiled on the same date, Phone Arena reported.
