The MacBook Pro 2016 will be out no later than October, a new report said, adding that once macOS Sierra has been finalized the new device will be unboxed. But the unpacking will likely not include the rumored Intel's 7th-generation Kaby Lake chip and NVIDIA graphics card.
Instead, the MacBook Pro refresh will most likely use Skylake as main engine and paired with AMD Polaris GPU for the high-end edition, MacRumors reported. Kaby Lake to become ready for Mac specifications is seen not happening until early 2017 while the reported Apple-NVIDIA collaboration is more likely to produce working products in time for the next round of Mac upgrade cycle.
MacRumors is convinced that the MacBook Pro 2016 will appear before the end of October. "Apple is indeed moving rapidly toward a launch of the new MacBook Pro models, with the company's current development work on macOS 10.12.1 focused largely on preparing the operating system to support the updated hardware's new features," the report said.
The publication claimed that one more beta version of the renamed OS X is planned in early October then the final version will be deployed shortly. If everything goes smoothly as planned then the MBP 2016 will begin shipping out second week of October.
But the possibility of delays remains, like if macOS bugs and other glitches that need fixing surfaced, the report said.
For the most past, the MacBook Pro 2016 specs and feature upgrades seem to have been written on stone. MacRumors believes that OLED touch bar or function keys and the Touch ID embedded on the laptop's power button are all part of the deal. The AMD discrete graphics card will be included in the package too but as mentioned, the feature is exclusive to the top-end MBP 2016s, specifically for the 15-inch form factors.
The same report also highlighted the rumors that it will be a redesigned MacBook Pro that will come out of box but provided no specifics. In his most recent notes, well-known Apple watcher Ming-chi Kuo has predicted that the MBP makeover will render the upcoming models slimmer and lighter than ever, likely measuring only 10mm in thickness when the clam is closed.
Of note is that the MacBook Pro 2016 release date happening in October aligns with the recent tease provided by Apple CEO Tim Cook. Cook said to "Stay tuned," when asked recently by a Mac fan when really is the MBP refresh is coming out, stressing that his company is very much committed to issue the update soon.
