"Wasteland 3" has been announced by InXile Entertainment and it will have a multiplayer feature. It will also have a new cinematic camera.
According to the official forums of the game developers, the upcoming video game will be set in the frozen wastes of Colorado. It will have a revamped combat and it will feature vehicles.
Players can also lead a Ranger Base, and it will have a story with deep choice and consequence. They can also enjoy this game either on single-player or cooperate with other players in multiplayer mode. It will launch on Fig on Oct. 5.
Studio head Brian Fargo told Polygon in an interview for more details of the upcoming video game. It promises to be a bit shorter at 50 hours, but the graphics and the feature set will be better. It will also be true to the franchise's roots, allowing players to create a small party of characters.
The game's story will be about Team November, a group of Rangers sent on a mission to Colorado. They will bet there to investigate the area after the global nuclear apocalypse.
Fargo said that in the opening sequence, players will be stranded far from civilization and have to fend for their own. They will face the biggest challenge early, which is to stay alive in the sub-zero temperatures.
The development team included new features to the game, which will move the franchise into unfamiliar territory, said the studio head. The multiplayer feature will have both synchronous and asynchronous play.
Fargo said that players will not just solve puzzles together. It will have narrative multiplayer and they will experience what can happen when the two of those players are in a world. They can be independent of each other, or do other things on the map.
Up to two players can make a unique team of Rangers for a mission. When these teams are close together in the game world, they will be able to take part in the same turn-based skirmishes. If they are apart, they will have their own change to move the campaign forward if they want.
The development team has also teamed with Brotherhood Games. The partners are comprised of brothers Christopher and Nic Bischoff. The game developers intend to bring a new level of updates on graphics to the wasteland with their help.
Fargo said that it is way better that what "Wasteland 2" was, and it is all in-engine. He also said that the camera is going to come down, and players will be able to see and hear people speaking their lines. This will help with their immersion in "Wasteland 3."
