Chinese movie fans who want to be roused for the New Year have two Jackie Chan movies to choose from at the end of December and end of January 2017. It is his first time to offer two big-budgeted films in the New Year season.
The first action-comedy, the genre of the 62-year-old actor, is “Railroad Tigers” which premieres in China on Dec. 30. Directed by Ding Sheng, the film casts Chan as a railroad worker, the leader of a group of civil guerilla force who use their knowledge of the train network to disrupt the wartime engine of Japan and steal food for hungry Chinese. The movie’s setting is 1941 when China was at war, reported Global Times.
Ding was Chan’s director for “Little Big Soldier,” an action-comedy movie, and "Police Story 2013," a police-thriller.
A month after “Railroad Tigers” is shown, Stanley Tong’s “Kung Fu Yoga” would be show beginning Jan. 28, 2017, the Chinese Lunar New Year’s Day. The film stars Chan as a famous archaeology professor who goes on a treasure hunt in India, Iceland and UAE.
Tong was the director of a lot of Chan’s hit classic movies such as “The Myth,” “Police Story 3: Super Cop” and “Rumble in the Bronx.”
Chan’s co-star in “Kung Fu Yoga,” Indian actress Disha Patani, would be launched in “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story” by Fox Star Studios, reported Times of India.
