G Suite has replaced Google's business apps branding with new upgrades to it. It also comes along with a new feature called Quick Access in Drive for Android.
According to the official blog of Google, they have announced that its Google Apps for Work has been rebranded to G Suite. It also came with a lot of upgrades and improvements in G Suite's existing product lineup. These apps that have been upgraded are Drive, Docs, Spreadsheets, Slides, Calendar, Hangouts, and many more.
The internet company said that the new rebranding suits better for their mission. Their mission is to help people everywhere work and innovate together.
The company said that with this new service, information can flow freely between devices, apps, people, and teams. With this upgrade, great ideas will never get left in the margins again.
Director of product management for the G Suite Ryan Tabone told Tech Crunch in an interview that this new service is a unified collection of tools. He clarified that this is not just a set of individual offerings.
The company explained the growing use of machine intelligence across the products of the service. This has been their investment for over a decade already. This technology has been used in other features like instant translation and photo recognition.
The company is bringing this type of technology to more services and it will start with Google Drive. There is a new feature called Quick Access in Drive for Android.
Quick Access will take half off the average time it takes to get to the right file. This technology will eliminate the need to search for it. Instead of searching, it will learn to predict which file the users will need before they type and then display those near the top of the screen.
This new technology will be able to make smart guesses about the file the users might need. It will base its guesses on things like their Drive activity, as well as their interactions with other people. It can also use their workday patterns like meetings of their team or reviewing of forecasting spreadsheets.
Google Calendar's Smart Scheduling feature will be available on iOS. It will also be available on the internet at the end of the year. It will be powered by machine intelligence, which assists in suggesting meeting times and available rooms based on the users' preferences and other things.
