It's been 11 years since the world was introduced to Ted, Robin, Barney, Marshall and Lilly in "How I Met Your Mother." Nine seasons and over 200 episodes later, it remains to be one of the most icon and well-loved shows in television history.
Even though it's been nearly 2 years since "How I Met Your Mother" aired its last episode, there's still a huge debate surrounding how it was carried out and how it should've been done. Some fans felt the finale was rushed and that it was anticlimactic.
Putting the arguments aside, there might be a chance "How I Met Your Mother" might return to the big screen in another form - a spin-off series. In a recent interview with Wetpaint, actress Alyson Hannigan, who played Lily, teased that there's a chance she might work again with on-screen hubby Jason Segel.
"In the last season [of HIMYM], I was like, 'We need to do a Marshall-Lily spin-off,'" Hannigan recalled a conversation she once had with Segel. "He said 10 years...and then we can come back."
The central element of "How I Met Your Mother" Ted Mosby, played by Josh Radnor, and the story of how he met the mother of his kids, who was later revealed to be Tracy McConnell, portrayed by Cristin Milioti. Hannigan hopes that she could do a spin-off series with Segel and they could focus on Lily and Marshall's story.
"I think it would be called 'Out By Lunch' because he and I work so fast we always have days when we're done by lunch," Hannigan joked.
Sometime in 2014, it was reported that CBS was working on a spin-off series called "How I Met Your Dad" was in the works. According to Screen Crush, "How I Met Your Mother" executive producer Carter Bays denied the reports through Twitter, writing that they are "really, truly not working on HIMYD anymore."
At their cast's last appearance on Comic Con, Bays dedicated the final season to the fans, saying, "This season is for you guys, this is our goodbye to you guys and our appreciation to you."
