Chris' brutal death under Brandon's hands was unveiled in the two-hour finale episode of the AMC series "Fear the Walking Dead" Season 2 that aired on Oct. 2, Sunday. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Dave Erickson recounted the discussion he and other key members of the production team had with Henrie about his character's demise.

Henrie was very understanding of how Chris' story played out in the show. Telling someone of their impending departure from the AMC series is never easy especially after the hard work that the young actor displayed on the show, according to Erickson.

The character's demise was also a big move and a well-planned story development in the AMC series. Erickson made mention of how a main character's death can shift other plotlines such as Travis' future actions in upcoming episodes.

Travis experienced a moral breakdown in the Season 2 finale after he learned that Brandon shot Chris to death given his injuries. It fueled Travis' rage as he murdered Brandon and his accomplice Derek. Erickson teased that Travis may exhibit a more violent personality in Season 3 of the AMC show.

Madison (Kim Dickens) may also display a similar characteristic in upcoming new episodes. The showrunner even described her as "one of the deadliest characters" on "Fear the Walking Dead."

Other interesting Season 3 teasers that Erickson mentioned involve the potential return of Daniel (Ruben Blades) in upcoming new episodes. He also hinted of the said character's potential resurrection in an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Daniel's absence is an important plot development for specific characters especially Ofelia (Mercedes Mason). The character's disappearance forced Ofelia to deal with a life without Daniel in the back half of Season 2, according to Erickson.

"Fear the Walking" Season 3 is expected to air sometime in 2017. Watch some of the highlights from the show's Season 2 finale below:
